I’ve always loved creating.  From that very first clay set my Dad gave me at 6 years old, my first business making and selling slip clay ceramics to achieving a merit in UAL level 3 Jewellery design at The Manchester college.  There’s always been something I’ve been creating.

In 2015 I opened a small shop in my local town center selling incense, dream catchers, crystals. As I’m always buying candles, air freshener plug ins and bath bombs so it was only natural id want to add these to the range.

I looked to local makers and a few big wholesalers.  This did not go well. Boxes of bath bombs that were pale, crumbly and cracked.  Not only did they look unappealing there was no WOW when in the bath.   The final straw was a delivery of wax melts badly wrapped in cling film, nothing more than a hand written label telling me the scent. They looked terrible and scent was almost non existent

I can do better than that!

So the research began, I read everything I could, practiced and practiced and practiced. I was hooked!    I had given samples to customers who were desperate for me to launch. I very quickly named my new company and the first batches went on to the shelves.  With hindsight I should have waited and put more thought into my naming brand but I had no idea just how important branding was and put it to the back of mind.  In early 2018 I made my first batch of bath bombs, I didn’t think anything could beat the satisfaction of making wax melts but this was a whole new level of joy!

Lockdown came in March 2020, the shop was closed but website sales had soared so I was busier than ever.  Something was missing though. My products looked great, they smelt great.

Then it hit me.    I hated the name of my brand.   There, I’ve said it.

I wanted a name that I was proud of.  A name that reflected my personality, a name that was fun and quirky, a name worthy of the care, attention and knowledge put into the products it was on, . I wanted a name I loved just as much as the products I was making.

And so Daroma was born……
